Sub-plots to remember from the first week of Queen of Tears.
0019: The long-awaited drama from the writer of CLOY finally premiered over the weekend.
Should I be concerned that I'm already this invested with the story on its first week?😅 I tend to avoid hyped-up KDramas like the plague because I prefer underrated ones. Less hype, less competition. So how did I end up sitting through almost 3hrs worth of KDrama from the first two episodes of Queen of Tears? Fairly simple. I deep-dive on what I think are easter eggs of possible plot points in future episodes.
Hong Man-dae's eldest son.
Estranged from the family for nearly two decades, we don't know much about Hong Beom-seok other than the fact that he used to handle Queens' Distribution and has been based in Hawaii after a falling out with his father. What caused their conflict? Does he have any family? Beom-jun and Beom-ja seem to act like they don't have another sibling.🤔
The death of Hong Su-wan.
If Episode 1 had you wondering why Hae-in and her mother have quite a frosty relationship, a revelation from the second episode quickly answered that. It turns out the family had another child back then - Hong Su-wan. Assuming he was the eldest granchild, his death not only drove a wedge between his mother and sister - it also thrust Hae-in into the role of Queens Group's heiress. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, eh?
Yoon Eun-sung's real identity.
Apart from being an M&A expert, not much is known about Yoon Eun-sung's private life. We do know he knew Hae-in and Ye-na from their university days and that he and Hae-in once dated. Is he really a threat to our main couple's marriage? Or will his presence trigger Hyun-woo to realize what made him fall in love with Hae-in in the first place?
Theory: Eun-sung is actually giving illegitimate child vibes. Could he probably be related to Queens Group?🤔
Is Mo Seul-hui really who she appears to be?
The Chairman's girlfriend is kinda sus. Sure she's not on the family register, but what if she's running a long-con all this time? Hong Beum-ja will be vindicated and it'll be up to Hae-in and Hyun-woo to save the day. Let's hope the janggi game was not a premonition of things to come.😏
So who's your favorite character so far aside from the leads?
